Dia Mirza to turn blogger for environment’s sake
Actor Dia Mirza’s constant endeavours to save the environment are known. Now, the actor — who is the UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador and UN Secretary General Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals — will turn blogger for the cause of the environment.
Dia has been writing articles and gathering images, from her travels, on single-use plastic across the country. Her aim is to create awareness among public about the consequences of our actions. “Dia has been planning to have a blog for a while now. She feels it helps start a conversation, which leads to actions. She has always worked towards an ecofriendly lifestyle, and is knowledgeable on these topics. While shooting for a web show, she had also cleaned the mountains. In fact, she has repeatedly taken forward the right conversations and even abstains from single-use plastic (personally),” a source says informing that the blog will be uploaded weekly, as a step to bring environmental awareness.
Dia adds, “Blogs and authored pieces lend the opportunity to further advocacy in a very personal way. We need conversations to connect us a lot more to our environment. Our lifestyle and consumption patterns have a very harmful effect on our health and lives. I want to be able to share what I’m learning along my journey towards better awareness on waste management and sustainability. I enjoy writing, and have been writing for publications, but now I want to make my efforts in writing more consistent.”
