Punjab, the best location for Khandaani Shafakhana team
Locations play a major role in the story in the upcoming Sonakshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana. Therefore, it was essential that the makers came up with authenticlooking places, so the film was shot at real locations in Punjab.
A source close to the team reveals, “A market is one of the most important backdrops in the film. The makers shot the film at real locations at Malka Bazaar, shown as Kabootaran Wali Gali in the film. The film has also been shot at several locations in Punjab, where the cast and crew were usually greeted with enthusiasm. So much so
that the team of the film says that the people of Punjab redefined the meaning of hospitality for them. Even though the locations were crammed with people, shops and snarling traffic, everyone was very welcoming and cooperative. From offering them local delicacies to letting them use their washrooms, there was nothing that the makers were denied.”
The trailer of the film has given a glimpse of this market and other locations that the film has been shot at. “The place where the market scene has been shot, is part of the heritage tour of Amritsar. While shooting there, it was a task to convince 30 shop owners to allow us to shoot. It was already crowded as it was a wholesale market, and being a prime location, the film shoot made it attract even more people. But at the end of it, everything fell into place,” says Mayur Sharma, the production designer of the film.
Gulshan Kumar and T-Series present Khandaani Shafakhana, a Sundial production. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and Divya Khosla Kumar, and directed by Shilpi Dasgupta, the film releases on August 2 2019.
