Actor Parineeti Chopra has two big films coming up. One is a Bollywood remake of Hollywood film The Girl on the Train (2016) and the other is a biopic on ace shuttler Saina Nehwal. Though Parineeti has started work on The Girl..., she has decided to take some time to prep for the sports biopic.

Talking about her first attempt at portraying a sportsperson on-screen, the 30-year-old says, “I have actually never played a sport before, which is why this (character) was really exciting for me. I was looking for a sports biopic because it’s a completely different aspect of my personality that I haven’t shown yet, in any film.”

She, however, adds that it will take her time to master the game of badminton. “It’s going take me a while to play like the

No. 1 champion. I want to make sure that I play every part of it perfectly. So, I requested the producers to give me time to get ready before I shoot for the film. And they have graciously done so... I would want to train enough. That’s the only reason (to ask for time),” says the actor, who was last seen in Jabariya Jodi.

Ask her what’s more draining, the physical training or internalising a character’s traits, and she explains, “I can’t pinpoint because it differs with every role and whatever is the requirement of each character. Some roles come with the need for physical transformation and some otherwise, so it really depends on each part that you take up. It is a different process for every project.”
