Sonu Sood has always been a sports adherent and a fitness freak. And now, he has taken his love for sports and athletics to the next level as he has financially sponsored the travel for the Indian badminton team, who are all set to represent the country at the Special Olympics in Thailand. For Sonu, the journey has been a “blessing”. The actor says, “The special children, who are going for the Special Olympics didn’t have the resources to travel there and see their dreams come true. So, I wanted to be a part of their journey so that a little help from my side could help them reach their goals and destination.”

He adds, “When I got to know that they needed a sponsorship for the same, I was more than happy to do that. I’m glad that they’re travelling to Bangkok (Thailand). I wish them all the best. I want them to win lots of medals and make India and their families proud.”

He reveals that the team of players is excited to battle it out at the sports event. “I haven’t met the team members personally but I’ve spoken to them over the phone and they’re very excited. They’re looking forward to giving their best,” he says.

Sonu stresses on the importance of promoting sports for everyone. “Being into fitness, I always support people who can’t afford to join the gym and travel. I try to do whatever I can to the best of my ability. In India, you need that kind of a support system to promote sports in a bigger way. There’s a large percentage of differently abled people in our country. They need to be taken care of and supported. They shouldn’t be feeling that they aren’t good enough to be part of big platforms and competitions. It’s very important for every individual to come forward and do their bit. It’s not about what you can do but how you can motivate others to help those who are in need,” he signs off.
