‘CHELSEA FC HAS A LONG TERM VISION’
Actor Arjun kapoor is hosting the club’s Out of the Blue segment, which features him talking to Chelsea fans across India
For actor Arjun Kapoor, the football club Chelsea has been part of his life since 1999. The actor, who is associated with the London-based club has now shot for their latest segment titled Out of the Blue, where he will be seen speaking to fans in the city.The video, which will be out on the official app of the English club, will have episodes of Arjun interacting with fans across the country.
The first episode which is out today has Arjun hosting Omkar Sawant from Bayside Blues, Mumbai and Mayur Bhosale from Chelsea India Supports Club, Nagpur, and City Head of Chelsea India Supporters Club, Mumbai. Talking about Out of the Blue, Arjun says, “Every episode will have me chatting with different fans. For the first episode we were fortunate enough to have fans from Mumbai. There are a few telephonic conversations and a few Skype interactions as well.” However, ask him the highlight of shoot, and he says, “The best part was to meet the 84-year-old Chelsea fan, Kusum Kaneriya. She was accompanied by her grandson Vivek, a member of the Chelsea India Supporters Club, Valsad. We know her as daadi and she’s a die-hard fan of the club and Willian (the player).”
So, does he think if this would, in a way, bridge the gap between a club in London and it’s fans here in India? He says, “Definitely. When I went to London, I had the chance to met the CEO, managing director and the social media team there. I had the pleasure to speak to them and I understood that they have marked out India as one of the potential places. They have a long term vision and hence this is not a decision taken just because I am fan. It’s a very well thought idea.”
About what the fans can expect from Arjun, he says, “The first thing I want to do is to come and watch matches with all the fans. I feel I need to come into your spaces also. Before all this, I need to earn the respect of all the Chelsea fans. I am hoping this first episode works as the icebreaker. I want to be as available as possible for the fans.”
