‘Digital content is not the future, it’s actually the present’

Ujda Chaman actor, Maanvi Gagroo, gained immense popularity after doing web shows such as Pitchers, Tripling, Four More Shots Please! and Made In Heaven. After making her big-screen debut in Ujda Chaman, Maanvi feels while the merger of films and OTT as mediums has happened, it will become a norm in the future.

The actor says, “Digital content is not the future, it’s actually the present. Everybody is moving to digital as there are a lot of platforms available. Films are being released directly on digital platforms while web content [such as OTT original films like Roma] is being screened in theatres, so the lines are blurred. There is a convergence of the two media and I think we should accept the digital platform as part of the entertainment industry.”

When asked about censorship on OTT platforms, Maanvi says, “While it is important that there are age-appropriate regulations, certifications and even demographic certification, we also need to understand that it is the duty of parents, schools, and institutes to educate children about whatever it is that they want to educate them on because morality is subjective. It is different in different cultures and even different in different homes. So, as parents we need to be more involved and make sure that we regulate content in our homes.” Maanvi, will next be seen in season two of Four More Shots Please! and will also feature in Ayushmann Khurrana’s next film, film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

I’ve too much love for the media, so it’s not like I’m avoiding the paparazzi. It’s got nothing to do with how I feel about it.
