I haven’t given many successful films, yet got good work, says Akshay Oberoi

- Kavita Awaasthi AKSHAY OBEROI,

Actor Akshay Oberoi forayed into films in 2002 with American Chai. And since then, he has been part of many films including Pizza (2014), Gurgaon (2017) and Junglee (2019). Akshay says he feels blessed to have got such variety of work. “I am glad to have quality and interesting roles, and I couldn’t have asked for more,” says the actor, who has also starred in many web shows such as Selection Day, Bar Code and

The Test Case.

Now, he is thrilled to have bagged the lead role in the film, KTina, opposite Disha Patani. “Doing a film with Ekta Kapoor’s production house is a big deal as is working with a popular star like Disha,” shares Akshay.

“I might not have got extreme amounts of fame or money in my career, but I have done acting-oriented roles, which give me a lot of satisfaction. I would like to believe that filmmakers trust me with tough roles. I am amazed that I haven’t really given that many successful films, though some of my movies have been critically acclaimed. But none made great bucks at the boxoffice,” he says, adding, “But the industry has supported me a lot and my work has led to more opportunities. It is a huge deal that people back you and believe in you just for your work.”

The actor adds that since his career has been quite a struggle, he is able to value the things he has today much more. “Earlier, my endeavour was to get a foothold into the industry. But now, I want to see where else I can go from here,” he says.

He will also be seen in a web show opposite Shweta Tiwari, playing a 40-year-old lover boy. “It was fun playing a goofy guy who has so much energy. Also, in our industry, elder men star opposite younger women and it was a case of role reversal in our show. It was fun doing something different,” he concludes.

The industry has supported me a lot and my work has led to more opportunities. It is a huge deal that people back you and believe in you just for your work.
