Web has given me a lot of spiritual support: Amit
Amit Sial, who started his acting career as a theatre artiste, gained recognition for his acting chops with films such as Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010) and Titli (2015). Two years ago, he forayed into the digital space with the web series, Inside Edge. He believes that the kind of characters that the web has offered him has creatively satisfied the actor in him. “I have been part of showbiz for the last 15 years. And I have been very fortunate to be part of some really good projects. I have done some not very good ones also but that is part and parcel of every actor’s journey. With the digital medium, I am getting the kind of work that I had always dreamt of doing and that is giving me a lot of emotional and spiritual support,” he says.
Amit says that working in the digital platform is helping him develop networks with filmmakers which, in turn, are helping him land plum roles. “The affiliations that I am making with and through the cast, the crew and the viewers, who are watching me, are giving rise to a chain of continuous good work. I had been working on and off but was not getting the amount and the kind of work that I was looking for. But the web has given me that opportunity,” shares the Mirzapur actor.
However, Amit’s love for theatre has not died yet. He says that though he would love to go back to theatre someday, it will not help him earn his bread and butter. “Maybe, I want to go back to doing plays but not for now. I have nothing against theatre. It requires a lot of time, patience, persistence and discipline, but it does not pay you well. However, I am keen on going back to it. Theatre is all about immediate gratification,” Amit says.
