Rasika’s proud to be part of brave and sensitive stories

- Kavita Awaasthi

This year was special, as I got an opportunity to be part of brave and sensitive stories, which needed to be told,” says Rasika Dugal, who was appreciated for her performances this year, especially her web show, Delhi Crime. She adds, “I always felt that each project I was a part of, was special to me — either as a performer or as an individual. Delhi Crime and Hamid are both examples of that. In light of all that’s happening in the country, these stories are more relevant today than ever.”

While many might feel that though Rasika has been acting for over 10 years, it’s only her last couple of digital series that brought her into the limelight and got her more recognition than her film roles. However, she disagrees. “The digital series I have been a part of have definitely given me access to a wider audience. But the lack of audience didn’t diminish my experience as an actor in the many small budget films I have done in the past. I still feel that films like Kshay (2011), Qissa (2014), Manto (2018) and Hamid have been some of the most special experiences I have had.” With many new projects currently underway, Rasika is now learning the art of multi-tasking, which she admits she “doesn’t have a natural aptitude for”. “I think, I really need to learn how to take short breaks and continue to try and, as they say, ‘feed the actor’s soul’ alongside work. I am usually good at doing that when I get a long break but when on a hectic schedule, I tend to get totally consumed by it,” she reveals.
