Satish Kaushik looks forward to an ‘important’ 2020
For Satish Kaushik, New Year is going to be all about spending some quality time with his family. Ask him about his plans for New Year’s eve and he says, “I’m celebrating New Year in Dubai. My wife Shashi, (daughter) Vanshika and I will join my friend and his family on a boat in the canal. Vanshika is excited to see the fireworks there.”
As part of his New Year resolution, he urges filmmakers in Bollywood to cast him in more films. He also aims to turn his production house into “a reputed content developing place”.
Kaushik’s happy with the way 2019 has turned out for him. “2019 was great. Producing a Haryanvi, a Marathi, an English and a Hindi film was a great step towards developing my production house,” he says.
Walking us down the memory lane, he takes us to 2001, the year that has remained etched in his memory. “My best new year was celebrated in New Zealand in 2001 when I was shooting for the songs of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai there. We were shooting in a small, quiet town. Vashu Bhagnani, who was the producer of the film, hired a hall and his wife (Pooja Bhagnani), Ahmed Khan (choreographer), Tusshar (Kapoor), Kareena (Kapoor Kapoor Khan), my wife and I had a ball in that little town,” he shares.
For the veteran actor, 2020 “is going to be an important year”. Shedding some light on his chock-a-block schedule next year, he says, “Apart from releasing my beloved project Kaagaz, I’ve a bunch of acting projects, some of which will see me playing the protagonist. I’m also doing roles in web shows like Chargesheet and The Scam.”
He adds, “My production house is producing great content for the big screen and for digital platforms. My stint as the chairman of Haryana Film Cell will also take up my time to develop the entertainment sector in Haryana. My hands will be really full in 2020.”
