2019 really brought out the voice of the streets and gave India a taste of real hip-hop. A huge credit goes to Gully Boy for recognising our work and effort, and helping accelerate the acceptance of hip-hop. The music expression went from derivative to original, and hit the mainstream industry. The audiences now understand the true meaning of our lyrics and that’s why, we are able to appeal to a larger base. We can express our music in our own language. Next year, I promise that there will be a lot more in store in this genre.
