Having been part of films such as Dhokha (2007), Horn Ok Pleassss (2009) and Will You Marry Me (2012), model-turnedactor Muzamil Ibrahim has been on a hiatus since five years. The 33-year-old actor, who started his journey in the modelling industry at 21, reveals that while he has been away from the audience from some time, he was never away from acting. “I was always working as an actor, doing theatre, preparing for a play and attending acting workshops. I watched every good film worth watching, read a lot of screenplays and learnt how to write. And, I auditioned a lot, even more than what I did before I got a break in films,” says Ibrahim.

While he is keen on doing films, the digital world, too, fascinates him. However, he admits that the small screen isn’t on his radar. “Television was never a love affair, otherwise, I would have done TV shows long ago. I have been offered every top TV show with huge pay checks, but money was never a prerogative.

Thankfully, with the OTT platforms coming up, they have filled the much-needed gap between films and TV. People who want to be a part of quality content fit nicely on OTT,” he says.

The actor is excited about working with director Neeraj Pandey in a thriller-espionage web show, which will feature Ibrahim in an action-avtaar. As a model and later an actor, he always found appreciation for his looks and is aware that while OTT platforms provide path-breaking content, they are some who also don’t shy away from showing nudity and sex scenes. “Sadly, there are some directors who use skin-show to sell their content but often don’t find many takers. Most modern directors are evolved and aesthetically portray skin show à la international cinema. I am not averse to it but I need to see the intent behind it. I have been approached by many producers and directors who thrive on such gimmicks to sell, but I prefer to not work at all than to do something that I will regret,” he signs off.
