How can one style belts with Indian attires? Which are the best colours?
Waist belts are generally considered flattering, since they emphasise the smallest part of your body and make you look slimmer. For sarees, any embellished or leather belt can work really well. Even corset belt can make a basic saree look dressy, without having to accessorise much. For lehengas, a simple gold or embellished belt tied around your lehenga can add oomph, and also help hold your dupatta in place. And for salwar suits, anarkalis or palazzos, embellished cloth belts work really well.
When it comes to belts based on body type, thick waist belts are great for women with longer torsos, as they help shorten their upper body and make them look more proportional. Short-waisted women, on the other hand, look better in thin belts, as they don’t cover the midsection.
In terms of colour options, stick to the classics — brown or black — for leather belts. And for embellished ones, go for gold or silver.
