Big failure if we cannot catch the hackers: Ajinkya

In the wee hours of Monday, actor Ajinkya Raut was on his way to Mumbai, when he got an Instagram message asking to share his username and password to begin the social media platform’s verification process. “Previously, I had tried getting a blue tick [Instagram verification] but it didn’t happen. This account looked so authentic and so did the message,” Raut explains.

But the message turned out to be fraudulent and gave hackers direct access to his account. The actor has lodged an FIR and is in touch with the cyber cell. “I, not only want to retrieve my account, but also want to know who these people are. We’ve advanced a lot technology wise, so it will be a big failure for us and the law if we cannot catch these hackers,” shares the Vithu Mauli actor.

Citing his tiredness, Raut says he knows it “was stupid” to share this information. Soon his account was hacked and he was logged out.

“I changed my other passwords. But it is so sad that this happened. These hackers are experts. For an actor, a lot depends on social media, as most of the casting, of late, is based on one’s Instagram position,” a devastated Raut elaborates.

He also mentions that there are several personal conversations, involving his family, that could be leaked.

“Of course, there are a lot of personal things [in my chats]. I’m a young, single adult. I have interacted with people. But I cannot stress about it. I just want to spread awareness about this [hacked account],” he adds.
