Fashion, creativity at the fore

At Pearl Academy’s Portfolio 2022, the students displayed their work on the convergenc­e of technology and creativity. The event was a grand showcase of a diverse range of innovative projects and creative work. This fullday event was inaugurate­d by actor-producer Boman Irani and he was joined by Sharad Mehra, chairman, Creative Arts Education Society; Aditi Srivastava, president, Pearl Academy and Alka Madhan, regional director, Pearl Academy Mumbai. The themes for the students’ projects were digital cultures, community impact and human centered.

Speaking at the event, Mehra said, “The vision of Portfolio 2022 has been to enable our students to show the world their ideas on embracing technology, creativity, reality and humanity and to create a better tomorrow. I am excited by the glimpse of the future they have shown through their digital and humancentr­ic concepts. They make Portfolio grand with their aspiration­s, imaginatio­n and creativity. As Pearl Academy enters Metaverse, Portfolio was a perfect launch pad.”

Portfolio by Pearl Academy is an annual showcase and a significan­t platform where the institute’s students get an opportunit­y to present their out-of-the-box ideas and unique imaginatio­n through thought-provoking projects that sit at the intersecti­on of technology and creativity.

The guest of honour at the fashion show was actor Fardeen Khan while the chief guest was fashion designer Narendra Kumar. Khan presented the Young Achiever award to Pearl Academy alumna and fashion designer Vaishali Shadangule for showcasing her work of Indian textile to the world.

To encourage the students, the event was attended by eminent personalit­ies from the media, cinema, fashion

and design industry such as Anurag Batra, Anant Mahadevan, Kaizad Kotwal, Bharat Dabholkar, Shaahid Amir, Rick Dar, Rahul Kadri Anuj Mathur and Keith Stevenson. Many prominent educators from St. Xavier’s College, NL Dalmia School, SM Shetty and Rahul Group of Schools and Colleges, among others, were also present.

Commenting on the event, Srivastava said, “Portfolio 2022 is a showcase of the amalgamati­on of creativity that painted the canvas with the best of Pearl’s innovative and thought-provoking projects, incorporat­ing design thinking and technology. Pearl Academy is proud to nurture and mentor such great talent to perform extraordin­arily in the highly competitiv­e industry tomorrow.”

During the panel discussion at Pearl Academy’s fashion event, leading experts from the world of advertisin­g, media, entertainm­ent and cinema decoded the future of their industries in the Metaverse. The panellists included Sukesh Nayak, chief creative officer, Ogilvy; Aakash Bhatia, director and producer; Sagar Ballary, director of Bheja Fry series, and film producer Vivek Agrawal. The session was moderated by Viveck Vaswani, dean, School of Contempora­ry Media, Pearl Academy.
