Bradley recalls being mocked over Oscar nominations
Actor Bradley Cooper revealed in a recent podcast that he had once been mocked by a famous director for having received seven Oscar nominations.
He shared that the incident occurred at a party during awards season, when he had three Oscar nominations for his film, A Star is Born (2018), reports Variety. Cooper was joined by a friend and an actor who also had three nominations. The director, who was at the event, said to him, “What world are we living in where you have seven nominations and she’s only got three?” The Hangover (2019) actor admitted that at that point, he felt like asking the director, “Bro, why are you such an a ***** e?” He added, “I would never forget that.”
However, the 48-year-old has faced such condescending remarks earlier as well. He shared that a female actor had mocked him for bagging his first Oscar nomination for the film, Silver Linings Playbook (2012). Giving her approval in a condescending manner, she said to him, “I saw your movie. You deserve the nom. I was like, ‘What? Then 10 or 20 minutes later — I’m not kidding — I passed her going to the bathroom and she mouthed it, ‘The nom.’ I remember [thinking], what is this town?’ Can you imagine saying that to somebody?”
Cooper has since bagged two more Oscar nominations, taking his tally to nine.
On the work front, he is helming Maestro, based on legendary Broadway composer, Leonard Bernstein. Cooper would star as Bernstein opposite actor Carey Mulligan playing Bernstein’s wife, Felicia Montealegre. Speaking about the project, Cooper said the movie is “about marriage, a movie about family. That’s it.”
