Taapsee Pannu joins hands with Hemkunt Foundation as advisory board member

-

Hemkunt Foundation has brought on board Taapsee Pannu as a member of its advisory board, making the award-winning actor the first female ambassador of the foundation. She will work towards generating awareness about accessible, affordable healthcare.

The foundation is relentlessly working towards building a better healthcare ecosystem, especially in inaccessible areas. During the pandemic, it came to the aid of

4.2 million people, providing medical, healthcare facilities.

Pannu has earlier teamed up with organisations such as Nanhi Kali to help educate underprivileged girls, driven awareness on menstrual health and fought to break taboos around periods. As part of her new role, she will create awareness about Hemkunt Foundation’s flagship project, HF Mobile 100 (Hospital on Wheels), the Dhabba Nahi campaign around menstrual hygiene, and more. She says, “I am amazed to see the impact that Hemkunt Foundation has generated over the years. With initiatives like Mobile 100 and Dhabba Nahi, the foundation is ensuring that every individual gets access to healthcare, which I truly believe is a basic right. I am glad to collaborate with them to take the cause forward.”

As a part of HF Mobile 100, 21 mobile medical units have been launched in rural areas across seven Indian states to provide medical facilities in inaccessible locations. Dhabba Nahi, on the other hand, is an initiative that aims to make basic menstrual hygiene kits available for women in marginalised pockets of urban villages as well as rural landscapes.

“Much like the honest, fierce roots of our organisation, Taapsee has been known to stand her ground for what is right. It is an honour to work with her. I’m certain that together,

we will be able to bring change to society and make it a better place to live,” says Harteerath Singh, director of Hemkunt Foundation
