It wouldn’t be wrong to say that 2022 has been the year for actor Kartik Aaryan, who, in a short span of time, experimented with different genres, received rave reviews and gave the industry a historic blockbuster like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (BB2) during a pandemic. As a celebration and culmination of his achievements this year, the young superstar put up a grand act at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals in Asia, IFFI promotes films by providing a unique platform to showcase the best of cinema. And, the actor was chosen to headline the opening ceremony of the festival, which is one of the most respected platforms in the country today. The heart-throb set the stage on fire with some of his iconic and chart-topping numbers, including Bom Diggy Diggy and Dil Chori (Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety; 2018), Dheeme Dheeme (Pati Patni Aur Woh; 2019), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 title track and Kaala Jaadu from his upcoming film, Freddy.

Interestingly, these blockbuster tracks featuring the superstar continue to trend on radio, television and social media. Besides music, the actor’s moves have also got audiences grooving. After the zig-zag step from BB2 took the internet by storm, now the chopper step from Freddy is inspiring numerous reels on social media within a week of the song’s release.

During his headlining act at IFFI, the shehzada of Bollywood not only treated the audience to his popular songs, but also some iconic moves, thus receiving a thunderous applause.

Talking about performing at IFFI this year, he says, “It was such an honour to take the stage at a prestigious event like IFFI. It was really exciting to perform live on Kaala Jaadu, BB2’s title track and some of my other chartbusters. There is always this adrenaline rush in performing live and I love that. I’ve had an incredible year, which I am so grateful for. This was the perfect way to usher in my birthday (he turned 32 yesterday, November 22).”
