Following vaastu principles help ward off bad luck from our lives. We list down some quick do’s for the same:
North-east toilet: The
■ north-east direction, according to vaastu, is owned by Lord Shiva, the supreme deity. A toilet in this region kills the positive energy generated in this direction, thereby bringing about bad luck.
Managing the north: If
■ the north of a house is cluttered with junk or heavy stuffs, it jeopardises the luck quotient of the family living there. Make sure never to place old newspapers, inverters or huge almirahs in the north direction as this would only bring in evil luck and hamper your growth and success.
South-west window: A
■ window placed in the south-west direction of the house brings in bad luck for its residents, which also tends to delay plans and decisions for smooth life. This vaastu flaw even lowers your energy level and increases feelings of sadness and depression.
Water: Vaastu says never
■ place showerheads in the south or drink water facing the south or south-west direction. The south direction is owned by Yamraj, the God of death, and hence it does not reflect positive and prosperous energies required for the overall growth and prosperity of human beings. That is why Hindus always offer water to the sun God towards the east, as this propels the transfer of the sun’s positive rays into the human body after being filtered through water.
Broken things: If any expensive crockery and showpieces get broken by chance, they should never be fixed by adhesives and reused as they are considered to be unlucky.
Walls: Never write on the walls of kitchen and the living area as they are considered unlucky. On the contrary, totally blank walls, too, are inauspicious as they bring in loneliness and problems.
Lights: We spend huge amounts on doing up the interiors of our homes by putting up fancy lights and chandeliers, but we refrain from switching them on in an attempt to save on huge electricity bills. Doing so brings in bad luck to our house. Make sure to switch on all the lights of your house at least for some time in the evening.
