Deepika’s back to being a student

I t is a well-known fact that actor Deepika Padukone (right) puts in a lot of effort in preparing for her roles. The 29-year-old has many scenes in her upcoming film in which she has to tend to her father, played by actor Amitabh Bachchan, who has digestion issues. And Deepika went out of her way to prepare for the role. “Although she plays an architect in the film, Deepika read a lot of material on ailments and medicines as several scenes required her to tend to Amitabh Bachchan,” says a source. The film, that releases next month, also stars Irrfan Khan, Jisshu Sengupta and Moushumi Chatterjee.

The source adds that be it her portrayal of a south Indian girl in Chennai Express (2013) or a girl-next-door in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Deepika has always completey transformed for her roles.

The film portrays Amitabh’s character constantly complaining about indigestion and Deepika wanted to have a basic understanding of these for her role. “(I) spent hours going through information about various medical issues, and their symptoms, solutions, etc. I now know the basic details about blood pressure, constipation, etc,” says the actor who was last seen in Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny (2014).
