The actor says that as he is about to turn 30, it’s time to start thinking about settling down
Ranveer Singh has moved up the popularity charts swiftly since making his debut in Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). The actor hopes that with an increase in his star value, he will be able to make braver choices. Here’s Ranveer talking about marriage, his gregarious image and more.
Recently, Forbes magazine said that you’ve defied stereotypes and ‘got the risk-reward formula down right’. Have you ever given it a thought?
I’m proud to be recognised for my work. There’s an upward graph in my star value even in terms of business. I admire Ranbir Kapoor’s style of functioning, and hope it works out for me, too. Ranbir worked himself to a point where his name had enough commercial value to do films like Rockstar and Barfi!. Films become commercially viable when his name gets attached. I hope that with my growing popularity that statistics reflect, I will also be able to make braver choices.
But do you feel that your super energetic avatar is overpowering?
Off-screen, I am a very vivacious person. So when people see me on-screen, they marry the two personalities which becomes the general impression about me. But I’m a lot more than that; I hope to prove that with every film I do. I wish people realise that there’s much more to me as a performer. And I don’t believe there will be a tomorrow. For me, every day is like the last day of my life; and I try and live it as much as I can. I’m naturally a gregarious person. Such adjectives were used even in my school report cards.
Even as you keep yourself busy with work, your personal life is always talk of the town…
I’m used to it now. It doesn’t do anything to me. Only when something is out of line will you find me reacting to it. People are curios to know about an actor’s personal life. I’m cool with it. But from my end, I will do my best to protect my personal life.
You will be 30 soon. Have you started thinking of settling down?
Yes, I have started thinking about it (smiles). I’ll be 30 very soon, and so, one should definitely start thinking about such things. Maybe it’s not the time to act on it right away, but surely it’s time for me to think about it.
Have you found the girl?
For now, it’s only time to start thinking about it.
I don’t think I will ever change the way I am. I get to hear voices telling me to restrain myself but that’s not something natural for me. As long as I operate from a good place in my heart, I’ll just be myself
