After an overwhelming response to the opening of the Hindustan Times and CyberHub Friday Jam, presented by Suzuki Gixxer, in association with Fuji Films Instax last week, CyberHub’s amphitheatre was once again brimming with energy. Audience thronged the venue to experience enthralling performances by young and corporate bands as part of the three month jam sessions. Three bands will perform every Friday and one of them will proceed to the semi-final every week as part of phase one, which is based on scores from judges and popular voting on social networking sites. The eight semi-finalists will be divided into two groups to compete for a spot in the finale. The four bands, two from each group, will proceed to the finale to compete for the title.

Mix Veg band, was the first to perform and they garnered immense applause for singing their own composition Teri Yaad and some hit Bollywood numbers. Vijay Prakash Sharma, the lead vocalist of the band said, “We are very excited as it is our first Friday Jam. Being a part of it has provided us a great platform to perform and connect with the audience. We performed rock versions of popular Bollywood songs. Teri yaad is a very special song, which has also received a nomination at a popular music awards this year.”

Emcee Gitesh Singh kept the audience entertained with his filmy antics. The judge for this week’s Friday Jam, Sharat Chandra Srivastava, violinist/compos- er from the fusion band Mrigya, said, “I wanted to see how corporate minds get together to make music and d it’s great to listen to young bands. I look forward to listening to original compositions by bands as Rock bands ds mainly do covers. It’s been wonderful hearing Mix Veg g perform tonight.”

Even a downpour couldn’t ’t deter the enthusiasm of thee attendees who had gathered d again after the first bout of a heavy rainfall, but owing to safety concerns, the performance of the second band — Dosti, had to be stopped mid way, which will now happen in the next week’s Friday Jam session along with the third band — Adjustment. They would be

judged within their existing pool of three bands. Aman Singh, an account manager, from Nirvana Country, Gurgaon, said, “I am looking forward to be a part of next week’s Friday Jam with my family now.”
