For Ranveer Singh, 30, his next film, Bajirao Mastani, means a lot. This is his second collaboration with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali — the first one was Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (GKRRL; 2013) — who the actor considers a mentor.

“I have worked with some wonderful filmmakers, and I have done movies like Lootera (2013), Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, and now, Bajirao Mastani. In addition to Adi sir (filmmaker Aditya Chopra), Mr Bhansali is somebody who has a lot of faith in my abilities and talent. He offered me GKRRL at a time when I was only two-films-old in Bollywood, and had not even done Lootera. But he saw something in me. He believed that I could do justice to his larger-than-life canvas, and gave me a big chance. Even doing a film like Bajirao Mastani is a big deal for me,” says Ranveer.

The actor says that he is putting in his 100% to do justice to the film. “I’m doing my best. This film is more painstaking than any other I’ve worked on so far,” he says.

Ask him if life is easier now, owing to the number of hits he has to his credit, and Ranveer says, “It’s never easy. You have to go out every single day and work hard.”
