A glimpse of the royal muse
Known to be guided by an ever-inspiring muse, ace couturiers Shantanu and Nikhil have caught our attention yet again with their autumn ’15 collection, The Mahal. We were the first ones to give a teaser of the creations, and here’s another sneak peek into the glamorous line that seems to include signature contemporary silhouettes lined with the perfection of made-to-order bespoke. Without giving away too much, the designers opened up about their inspiration. “The muse takes form, inspired by the palaces of Rajasthan — like the Mehrangarh Fort, from which we have taken the nuances of the architecture and fused them into our creations. There were many different sides to the inspiration, too, like the Sheesh Mahal which is so opulently couture. The woman and our muse who we believe in is wearing a mirror image of this inspired emotion,” says Nikhil Mehra.
While we can only go by the teaser rushes of the exclusive photoshoot right now, the collection will be unveiled at the ‘by Invitation only’ Vogue Wedding Show, before hitting the runway. What’s more, #themahal is already creating a buzz online, as it trends across social networks. Along with unveiling their latest collection, the designers are also prepping up to open their first couture menswear flagship store in Kolkata this September. For now, we’ll just have to wait and watch as Shantanu and Nikhil’s couture creativity unfolds.
