Going global with exquisite designs
Interior designer Gauri Khan was invited to showcase her latest works at MAISON&OBJET, the premier global showcase for home design and décor, held in Paris recently. The show saw 80,000 visitors from 140 countries converge over four days to witness creativity and design presented by more than 3200 exhibitors. In an added testimonial to her distinguished design journey, her collection, Turned Wood On Brass, was displayed in a section titled, Scènes d’intérieur gallery.
“This very exclusive section displays unique pieces, artworks and global trends in luxury decor. Receiving an invitation to participate in this section of the show is in itself very prestigious,” says Raj Anand of Maison&Objet.
“We are delighted to have Gauri Khan as our exhibitor,” added Philippe Brocart, managing director of the brand. While designing this luxury collection Gauri was inspired by the traditional craft of Sankhedu (hand-painted furniture in turned wood since 1885), from the eastern region of Gujarat, as well as architect Avni Sejpal’s work with rubber and cork. “India has a very rich heritage in craft and I would like to do more to bring some of this to the fore internationally,” said Gauri.
A selection from this collection, which was fabricated by CraftreD Designs Pvt. Ltd is displayed at the Gauri Khan Designs stores in Mumbai and Delhi, through her collaboration with MNH Bespoke Design, part of the Steinway Lyngdorf Showroom at D-28, Defence Colony. For details call: 9867757000
