‘Out of sight isn’t out of mind’
As Ayushmann Khurrana gets set to start work on his new film, which he has signed after waiting for almost a year, post the success of Dum Laga Ke Haisha (DLKH), we chat with the 31-year-old actor about career, life and more.
In spite of a hit under your belt, you are in no hurry to sign films…
DLKH reiterated that good scripts always work, even if they aren’t marketed well. So, I was reading scripts, but without looking at them as ‘projects’. I think a script should work as a whole. That’s why I felt that my next film is one of them. I am in no hurry to sign films. I plan to do some decent work. I also want to cut singles once in a while and do one or two films a year.
So you will do only one or two films from now on?
It depends on the scripts I get. If I get three or four good scripts – I can’t do more than four films in a year (laughs) – and nice people are attached to it, then why not?
Doesn’t being absent for so long worry you?
Not really! I have two mentors – Aditya Chopra and Shoojit Sircar. They gave me the same advice, ‘just relax and wait for the right script. In your case, content is what always works’. So, I think I was just waiting for the scripts. For me, out of sight isn’t out of mind.
