PRINTS, LAYERS AND ANTI-FITS
While fashion enthusiasts saw delayed shows, thanks to pouring rain, the inspiration on the runways seemed to make up for it, on Day 4 of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016. While at Péro, the models went back to class with slate-board clutches, berets and cropped tees trended at Ikai. Anti-structure and anti-fits were also hot on the ramp. Check out some takeaway trends here.
PÉRO BY ANEETH ARORA
BACK TO SCHOOL: Mismatched prints, layering, vintage school-reminiscent ghinghams and appliqué florals made up Péro’s showcase. The mismatched vibe added to the cosiness of the presentation, while woolen socks, a play with stripes and a wintery palette of rainy greys and blacks trended.
LOVE BIRDS
SHAPE’S OUT: We saw a lot of colourblocking and layering on the ramp. The simplistic yet thoughtful collection included oversized sweaters, skirts, robe coats, dresses and easy-fit pants for a snug winter season.
MANDIRA WIRK
MONOCHROME
BRIDE: The designer’s collection steered away from the autumn/winter theme and focussed on golds, blacks and ivories for formal ethnicwear. Actor and former model Malaika Arora Khan walked the ramp for Wirk wearing a body-snug full-skirted ensemble with gilded embroidery.
NIKI MAHAJAN
PEARLY INSPIRATION FOR
AUTUMN: For her ethnic collection of embroidered saris and gowns, lace and sequin detailed flowy skirts and crop tops, the designer played with red, beige and white. Models in pearl mathapatti and rose buns couldn’t be missed.
ILK
INNOVATION RULES: The collection titled Dot On A Walk revolved around pointillism technique, where distinct dots of colour form design patterns. Pixelated illusion from beads, floral embroideries and rib panelling on saris, pleated skirts and cocoon coats trended on Ilk’s runway.
IKAI BY RAGINI AHUJA
PARISIAN POP: Animal motifs, autumnal print and stripes defined the designer’s collection, titled Notebook. Long jackets, leather bralets and panelled skirts in neutral shades made it to the ramp.
