Taking fashion to the next level!
India’s premium private institution for design, fashion and creative
business, Pearl Academy, partnered with FDCI for two days of unique initiatives — The #BeSomebody Talk and What’s Next in
Fashion at the Amazon India Fashion Week 2016.
At the #BeSomebody Talk, designers Suket Dhir,
Anju Modi and Rahul Mishra interacted with design students and shared their journey from being students to becoming successful fashion designers. The session saw designers talking about their respective careers and their struggles, as well as giving nuggets of wisdom to the students.
As for What’s Next, it is a series of industry workshops and conferences discussing the future of design and design education, which has been hosted by Pearl Academy for the past two years. As part of the initiative at AIFW, Pearl Academy invited professionals from different fashion platforms to share their viewpoints on the theme of ‘How fashion is consumed’ to an industry audience. Creative director of Abraham and Thakore, David Abraham, fashion author, journalist and anthropologist, Phyllida Jay, editor Harper’s Bazaar, Nonita Kalra, founder and CEO of Stylumia, Ganesh Subramaniam, creative head Amazon Fashion India Narendra Kumar Ahmed and photographer and blogger Manou were a part of this panel. Ahmed made a speech on how fashion is so ingrained in our lives today and will continue to be.
Pearl Academy also launched the Works of Wonder (WoW) book, a compilation of some path-breaking work by students at the event. “We at Pearl Academy are committed to providing our students with an environment that promotes a culture of excellence and self-belief. It is our deep engagement with the fashion industry that allows us to deliver a truly relevant education. I am grateful to the panelists who led today’s amazingly insightful debate. This is just the beginning of What’s Next”, said Nandita
Abraham, EVP- Pearl
