Suiting up in style: Divas ace androgyny

Move over sheath and shift dresses. The most glam outfit for a fashionista to wear this season is the pantsuit. With gender-fluid clothes blurring the lines between masculine and feminine, suits are having a moment in the fashion world. Bollywood ladies such as Kangana Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vaani Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari were spotted rocking pantsuits.

Designer Rocky S says, “Floral prints and softer shades are being used extensively in menswear. Designers are experimenting with gender-neutral cuts and silhouettes for women’s clothing. The pantsuit is one of the best examples of the androgynous trend.”

Designer Namrata Joshipura believes the trend is more than just about gender fluidity with it comes to pantsuits. “It’s about modern dressing. Pantsuits reflect how today’s modern women want to add power to their wardrobe.”

Remember to work the trend right with a touch of femininity. “Use feminine fabrics that drape beautifully. Sexy, lacy camisoles teamed with pantsuits and heels make a perfect night out statement,” says designer Anand Bhushan. “Team it with a ruffled top and highheels for a meeting,” suggests Joshipura. Rocky S advises adding some edge to your pantsuit with a bow tie or a pair of sneakers.
