Game of Thrones actor Maisie Williams (right) has joined the voice cast of Aardman’s new animation Early Man.

The 19-year-old will be playing Goona, a gallant and indomitable rebel who helps to steer the movie’s hero Dug (voiced by Eddie Redmayne) through the clash of the stone age and bronze age civilisations, reported Digital Spy.

Maisie’s already taken a selfie with her character on Instagram, writing: “Das ma girl!” “I’m a huge Aardman fan and having the chance to work with Nick Park is a dream come true, especially as I get to voice such a fantastic character as Goona. I can’t wait for audiences to meet her,” she added.

Early Man marks Nick Park’s first feature since 2005’s Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the WereRabbit. It’s in production in Bristol. “Maisie is a terrific actress, and she is of course no stranger to embodying a valiant heroine. I’m most excited to see her breathe life into Goona – I know she’ll be the perfect ally to Eddie’s Dug,” Nick Park said.

Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey (right) said he went on a 10-day fast after filming Gold.

The 47-year-old actor was able to relax his workout regime and piled on nearly 50 pounds to play prospector Kenny Wells in the new movie and while he had fun gaining weight, he found slimming down afterwards much harder and had to take drastic measures to shock his body.

“Putting it on was easier and fun — cheeseburgers, beer, whatever I wanted. Taking it off, I did a 10-day fast just to kick-start my body into saying, ‘Oh we’re going without!’”

McConaughey, who lost almost 40 pounds for his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club, said Kenny is his favourite character he’s ever played, but his mother didn’t share his enthusiasm.

Actor Blair Underwood (left) loves working in television shows. The 52-year-old, who became popular after portraying Jonathan Rollins, a wilful determined attorney in the legal drama LA Law, feels that television is undergoing through a golden era.

“Actors just want to focus on good work. Right now, television is giving some of the best shows across networks. Some of the best financed projects are from the television industry. There are so many series that are coming online and attracting attention,” quips Underwood.

However, the actor doesn’t think that films have taken a hit because of TV. “Films still have a certain style, that people are drawn to. I don’t think films are getting affected, or that actors don’t want to do films because they want to work in television.”

Underwood will soon be seen in the second season of Quantico, which will resume on Star World HD after a mid season break. “I know it is a very intense show. We take 9 days to shoot one episode. But, I don’t feel any pressure. I am not the main star of the show, Priyanka is, so the pressure is on her, but she handles it really well. I have a lot of fun on the sets,” he says adding that he said a yes to the show because he was a big fan of the thriller series.

“I’ve been watching the show, before I got associated with it. I was intrigued by it. My character of the lead instructor is interesting and mysterious and I love it.”
