Akki says cinema should provoke one to think, and his film does that
A ctors Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani and Saurabh Shukla set a benchmark with the courtroom drama, Jolly LLB in 2013. The news that actor Akshay Kumar will play the titular role in its second installment led to the expectations and interest growing manifold.
While Akshay does feel the pressure of living up to the hype, he says that Jolly LLB 2, which releases today, will entertain as well as enlighten the audiences. “It feels good to know that audiences were eagerly waiting for our film. We’ve given our all to this special movie that’s a family entertainer. It’s a thought provoking film. It’s what cinema should be.”
A source close to Akshay says, “He’s one actor in Bollywood who successfully juggles genres and manages to deliver a hit each time. He had three releases in 2016 (Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3) and all were hits. He slips into a comic role easily, and is equally adept at getting into serious roles, which is why he managed a Housefull 3 and Rustom last year. This year too, Jolly LLB 2 combines best of both worlds. In the first trailer, Akshay was seen in a lighter vein, while the second trailer revealed the gritty side of the Indian judiciary.”
