Holi is a celebration of the colours of life, joy, friendship, love and even peace and happiness. This year, the Kaabil couple Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam posed exclusively for HT City, and shared their Holi plans.

Hrithik says, “This year, I will play Holi with my kids first and then go out to celebrated with my friends. It will be a good day.” The actor “loves the environment that makes it so conducive to having fun”. He says, “No one is prim and proper or restrained. Ones, who are, get picked up and thrown into a tub of water. Your inhibitions are at an all-time low and you don’t mind getting wet or your shirt being torn either.”

With their recent film Kaabil and their characters Rohan Bhatnagar and Supriya being loved by the audience, Hrithik says, “After the release of Kaabil, it was such a joy to get back with Yami for a have a Holi session.” Sharing her plans, Yami says she will be going home to Chandigarh this year “after a long time on Holi”. “Now I don’t play Holi as I used to. I don’t play water Holi at all. Holi will be about togetherness and gorging on good food. Festivals are about togetherness. Everyone from my cousins, friends, neighbours will be there and we will enjoy the festival. It is an emotional connect.”

Speaking about his Holi memories Hrithik says, “While growing up, Holi used to mean adventure. It was an opportunity to explore your neighbourhood, experience Mumbai on the street, making it your playground, and connecting with strangers through joy of colours. You were allowed to throw colours at everyone and even throw water balloons from terrace.”

Yami too had a fun-filled Holi as a child. She says, “Back then in Chandigarh I would be very excited whose house will we go to first and what else we plan to do that day. After playing holi, it would be a bit sunny, so dad would take us for a long drive till around Shimla, have lunch, come back, watch a movie at home – all this while still in the clothes soaked in Holi colours. The colony kids would come together.”
