After 18 years of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Ismail Darbar says that the iconic song was initially discarded

Ismail was so anxious because though we had our sittings, he hadn’t finalised on me. He played the song nine times and when he turned towards me, he was in tears. I’ll never forget that moment.”

The film, starring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had 11 tracks catering to various emotions. Sharing a trivia, Darbar says, “Sanjay had shown me photos of the locations and explained how his scenes would look. Once, I was travelling on my scooter and it started to rain. Out of nowhere, this tune played on my mind. I picked up the tune on violin and I reached Sanjay’s office to play. It became the theme of the film.”
