Delhi gives Daddy a lot of love
Aspecial screening of actorproducer, Arjun Rampal’s Daddy, a gritty thriller based on the life of gangster-politician Arun Gawli, was held in Delhi on Wednesday. Arjun, who was in the Capital for the film’s promotions, held a special screening for his close friends and family.
“Daddy is the story of notorious criminal Gawli, who ruled the underworld in Mumbai during the late 1980s and early ’90s. Director Ashim Ahluwalia has brought it alive by fleshing out the protagonist with minimum fuss. Arjun’s performance as Daddy not only moved the audience but also left behind a deep impression on their minds,” says a source.
Celebs who watched the film on Wednesday before its official release on Friday, loved how close the film came to perfectly narrating the story of Gawli. Actor Nafisa Ali said, “The movie has brought about a rethink and a relook at this wonderful, colourful gangster character, who had the will of the people that brought him into power in his mind. But, in the end he’s still in jail so it’s an important message. Arjun has done a phenomenal job. It’s a very serious and dark role. The character is very carefully handled, and therefore, it comes to life on screen.”
Also present at the screening, designer Raghavendra Rathore added, “Arjun’s persona and the character portrayal in the movie is extremely realistic.”
