Shahana doesn’t mind kissing on screen
Actor Shahana Goswami might not have played the quintessential heroine in Bollywood films, but her choice of roles, so far, made sure she got noticed.
In her latest release Tu Hai Mera Sunday, the actor has been paired opposite television heartthrob Barun Sobti, and their on-screen kiss has been the talk of the town.
Asked if she ever had any apprehensions about the kissing scene, Shahana is quick to refer to her filmography. “I’ve done on-screen kisses [previously also]. They’ve also been hyped. But I don’t have any objection to it. It is like any other scene,” she says.
However, she feels it is important that everything is based on the authenticity and requirement of it in the project.
“If you’re required to burst out crying [in a scene], you can debate that with your director if you feel that it’s not needed,” says the actor.
“Bold scenes or kisses have to be an organic part of the story and script. Also, I need to have a level of trust and comfort with my director and producer,” she says before adding “I feel quite comfortable as an actor to do and to perform anything that is required of me in a given role.”
Shahana trashes the rumour that Sobti requested the filmmakers to tone down lovemaking scenes. “When you watch the film, you would realise there’s no scope for intimate scenes. It’s a very slow-brewing romance, rather friendship, which doesn’t even culminate into a relationship right till the end of the film,” says the actor, who’s featured in several movies including Rock On!! (2008), Rock On 2 (2016), Ru Ba Ru (2008) and Heroine (2012)
