Neha Dhupia wears many hats — she is an actor, producer, and chat show host. Neha, whose audio chat show #NoFilterNeha, is immensely popular, features Karan Johar as a guest on the season finale episode, and the chat will be available on Saavn, an audio and music streaming service,today. The actor opens up about how it is a great time to be in showbiz and why she decided to do an audio chat show. Excerpts...
You seem to be doing a lot of things professionally ... Is it a way to stay relevant?
There are actors and directors whose films come once in twothree years yet they are so relevant. It is such a great time to be in the business because you can spread yourself as much as you want. Don’t be left behind because there is so much to explore.
You have conceptualised the audio chat show on Saavn, besides hosting it. Why did you choose such an unconventional medium to debut as a chat show host?
This was out-of-the-box, I wanted to try something new and the time was right. The audience was ready for it. The timing was right to go audio and digital.
How do you tread the fine line between being friends with celebs and asking them questions on #NoFilterNeha?
It is tricky because I know them really well. We make sure to let out the right amount of information so that the audience enjoys the chat. It is essentially a chat from our hearts to your ears.
The second season, which is being cast on Saavn, is bigger, better and bolder than last time. How did that come about?
The credit goes to the guests. We are nothing without them. Also my team, they are wonderful.
What is the research that goes behind the questions?
I get a list of guests and try calling friends, family to find the closet link to the story. I sit with my writer to finalise the script. Sometimes I stick to the format and sometimes I don’t, I pick up from the conversations we have.
