FARHAN’S MUSICAL TREAT AT A FEST

This year’s edition of Resurrecti­on2K17 was high on music and fashion with students enjoying the performanc­e of actor-musician Farhan Akhtar

The three-day annual fest at the Manav Rachna Educationa­l Institutio­ns (MREI), was high on fashion, music and dance. It came to a rocking end with a special concert by Bollywood actor-director-singer Farhan Akhtar and his band.

The fest, one of the biggest in Haryana, was being held from October 12- 14 and began with a grand inaugurati­on ceremony where Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI declared the event open. The carnival was packed with competitio­ns and performanc­es from teams and individual­s from across Faridabad. The third edition of Resurrecti­on2K17 saw the attendance of more than 25,000 students that peaked on day three when Farhan presented Bollywood Night and crooned hits like Socha Hai, Hawan Karenge, Rock On, much to the delight of the crowd.

During the performanc­e, Farhan also enlightene­d the students about his initiative ‘MARD’ – Men against Rape & Discrimina­tion.

“The event was well planned and executed. It was the culminatio­n of almost a year’s hard work and dedication by our extremely capable and talented students and faculty members. I am sure next year; this festival will be even bigger than all the last three combined,” Amit Bhalla said. The campus wore a festive look with students participat­ing with utmost eager in events including Pranaakti, a fashion show; Upsurge, the western group dance, Nazakat, the folk dance; DJ Wars; Street Plays; Battle of Bands; Gully Cricket; Street Soccer; Sher-O-Shayari; Doodling; Mono Acting; Folk Dance and Graffiti.

The battle of the bands and the DJ Wars were another crowd favourite event. A street play themed around spreading awareness about the social evils prevailing in our society was presented. Another highlight was the EDM night by the well-known Enchanted Valley.
