Irrfan’s quirky romance hits theatres

-

Irrfan in a slice-of-life love story — seems like reason enough for people to throng cinema halls to watch Qarib Qarib Singlle. Here’s more: The Tanju Chandra directorial is being touted as a first-of-its-kind film on online dating. It also marks Malayalam actor Pravtahy’s debut in Hindi cinema.

“Qarib Qarib Singlle is a unique love story that stars Irrfan in a different, fun role. It has been made keeping in mind the contemporary taste of audiences. We had a lot of fun making it, and are sure that the audiences will enjoy it as much,” says Sujay Kutty, business head, Zee Studios.

The chemistry between Irrfan and Parvathy’s characters Yogi and Jaya has been appreciated by the audience. And Irrfan shares that Yogi and the premise drove him into doing the film. “When it was written on paper, this role was so astonishing and amusing, I wondered how I’d make it my own. Now that the shoot is over and I’m able to see him on screen, I want to keep him alive forever,” says Irrfan.

As for Tanuja, she’s nervous. “It’s an irony that the word release which a director works for years to achieve is one of the most scary stages of filmmaking! All the effort of a team builds up to this one day. I hope the film brings smiles to peoples’ faces,” she says.

The film releases today.
