When Salman Khan couldn’t stop laughing at Maniesh’s joke

Actor Maniesh Paul is rightly called the Sultan of the Stage. With reality TV shows always vying to rope him for the host’s job, it comes as no surprise that Salman Khan has asked him to open the Delhi leg of his concert tour. Maniesh is, of course, excited about it, primarily because it’s going to take place in his hometown.

“I am very excited, because I am a hardcore Punjabi, brought up in Delhi, and have many memories attached to this city. So, it feels great coming back to my own city to host one of the biggest events. Hosting is one thing, but opening the show is a different kind of responsibility,” Maniesh waxes lyrical.

What excites the 39-year-old about live shows is that they give him a chance to interact with his fans. “I just love the way the audience reacts. What makes me happy is spreading smiles, and I’ve done so many shows. The moment my audience starts enjoying the show, that gives me a high,” he says.

Asked about his fondest memory of the stage, he says, “In one of our tour shows, I cracked a joke, and once Salman started laughing, he couldn’t stop! He had to actually go backstage to calm down. Seeing him made the fifteen thousand odd people present, crack up, and there was laughter everywhere. That is the kind of euphoria I am talking about.”
