Kendrick Lamar to produce, curate Black Panther soundtrack

-

Fans of the superhero genre are already eager for the release of Black Panther next month. Now, there’s one more reason to anticipate the film — it’s all set to get a soundtrack from rapper Kendrick Lamar.

The studio has enlisted the Grammy-winning artist to curate and produce the soundtrack with Anthony Tiffith, reports the Independent. The news came with the release of the film’s lead single, All the Stars, by Lamar ft. SZA.

In a statement issued by the Humble hitmaker, he emphasised how Black Panther was going to be something more than a regular superhero movie.

He noted, “...Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honoured to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside [director Ryan Coogler].”

Lamar had dropped a big hint about his involvement via his video for Love, which shows a clapperboard held in front of him, with the words “B. Panther Soundtrack Coming Soon” on it.

Coogler, who had directed Creed, the spin-off from the Rocky series (of Sylvester Stallone), had handpicked Lamar for the Black Panther soundtrack. “I am honoured to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film”, noted Coogler.
