Filmmaker Samar Khan is set to direct a 10 part web series based on the book India’s Most Fearless, written by journalists Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Singh reports on defence for Hindustan Times. One of the chapters of the book talks about the Army men who were involved in the 2016 surgical strikes.

In September 2016, in response to the attack on an Indian Army brigade in Uri, near the Line Of Control (LOC), Indian commandos carried out a preemptive strike on militants’ safe houses across the LOC.

Samar says the highlight of the web series is to show the human emotions of the Army soldiers. “It’ll be a 10 part series, which will show you the surgical strikes and how they happened, and a little bit about the scenario in which they happened. The idea here is to show the difficult conditions the Army functions in and the conditions in which the missions were carried out,” says Samar.

Producer Sameer Nair, who has bought the rights of the book, feels the story has great potential.

“We want to show the surgical strike that happened as a result of the Uri attack. We think it’s a great story to be told and has a lot of human drama attached to it. Once the screenplay is completed, we will figure out the casting. It’s very exciting and we are looking forward to that,” Sameer says.

Equally excited about the project, the authors state, “Based on the narrative of the Army officer who led the 2016 surgical strikes, the book offers the only authentic first-hand account of what really happened. It’s going to be terrific seeing this story jump off the pages on to the screen.”
