From judging reality TV shows to doing a film that’s being touted as India’s first stage reality film, Sonakshi Sinha says that she loves to experiment and feels one needs to keep reinventing oneself as an actor. Sonakshi, who is one of the few actors from the young brigade to judge reality TV shows, now has expressed interest in doing digital shows. The actor talks about her seven year long career, doing comedy and being “real” in her life.

You have worked in different genre movies, you have sung and lso judged reality shows. Is being rsatile the need of the hour? ou have to be at the top of our game. It is important to einvent yourself not only for he audience but for yourself oo. Doing the same thing over and over again gets monotonous. In fact, now is the time to experiment, be it with roles or films. People are open to watching new concepts on screen. Being a Gemini, when things get stagnant, I need to shake them up (laughs). Everyone is trying different things simultaneously. There are too many options — be it in films, television or even digital.

Does the digital medium interest you?

I don’t have any reservations about working with digital content as it is the future. Some of the online shows are fantastic with great writing and cinematography. The digital space is growing by the day. If I get an interesting role, I would love to do it.

Your new film Welcome To New York (WTNY) is a stage reality film. What was your reaction when you got the offer?

Such a concept has never been done before or even heard about. We were told we would shoot the film while an actual awards ceremony was going on, as the story is about two commoners who get a chance to showcase their talent at the event. Other than going mad while shooting on and off stage which was fun, I loved the concept of the film as it has never been attempted in India before.

How was it shooting a film with Diljit Dosanjh?

He is wonderful and talented as an actor, which he proved with his first Hindi film Udta Punjab (2016). His comic timing, too, is bang on in our film which is an out and out comedy. I enjoy comedy films. I am a funny person and I love to laugh and make people laugh.
