Beat skin problems with face masks you can make at home

- Inputs by experts Shaivya Gupta and Shikhee Agrawal

Winter is on its way out, but if the havoc it has wreaked on your face in the form of dry, irritated and dehydrated skin isn’t, it is time you tried face masks. Here’s the lowdown on the type of masks you should be picking.

AVOCADO

Full of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, avocadoes not only moisturise the skin, but give it a healthy and supple feel. Be sure to opt for an organic avocado mask to keep your skin looking nourished.

SEAWEED JELLY

This sea-plant is known to work wonders on all skin types, and has long-lasting benefits. This is precisely why it used widely in spa and skincare products. With its natural cleansing and hydrating properties, it makes an apt ingredients for winter face masks.

DAISY FLOWER EXTRACT

Daisy has been used as a healing plant throughout history. Face packs with daisy extracts not only make the skin supple and smooth, but enhance skin elasticity considerably.

ALOE VERA

Aloe vera not only provides rejuvenation, but, with its antiseptic properties, helps combat acne. An aloe-vera gelbased face mask will optimally hydrate your skin, too. Use it twice a week to repair itchy and flaky skin.

DEEP NOURISHMENT WITH HONEY MASKS

Wrap your skin with an indulgent honey-textured moisturising mask. Look for masks enriched with deepnourishing active ingredients like honey, marula oil, or olive oil. Masks rich in omega-9 help boost skin elasticity.

CUCUMBER MASKS

Cucumber has soothing properties and is great to treat puffy eyes. Grate cucumber and mix it with one tablespoon of aloe gel. Apply the mixture to the face and neck. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and wash with warm water.
