Danny Boyle reveals that he is working on a Bond script
Producer-director Danny Boyle has confirmed that he is developing the next James Bond movie.
Boyle, who won the 2009 Best Director Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire and has critically-acclaimed films such as Trainspotting (1996) and 127 Hours (2010) to his credit, was on the top of the list of directors being considered for the next Bond film, which will mark the final appearance of actor Daniel Craig as the famed MI6 spy.
The filmmaker confirmed to Metro New York that he is working on the Bond film during the special screening of his new series, Trust, in New York.
“We are working on a script right now. And it all depends on that really. I’m working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in six or seven weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now,” Boyle said.
Boyle also revealed that John Hodge, with whom he collaborated on films such as Shallow Grave (1994), A Life Less Ordinary (1997), The Beach (2000), Trance (2013), and others, is co-writing the screenplay of the new Bond film.
“John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away,” he said.
Boyle has always shown a keen interest in directing a James Bond movie. The studio also wanted to collaborate with the 61-year-old director on Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015), which were eventually helmed by Sam Mendes.
