ULLAS ’18: TALENT AND FUN AT KNC’S ANNUAL FEST
KNC girls prove that you can make it a truly cultural fest by focusing less on stars, without missing out on fun
Despite rising temperatures outside, Ullas ’18 — the annual cultural fest of Kamala Nehru College (KNC), was by far the breeziest fest this year in Delhi University (DU). While most fests opt for a more starry affair, KNC chose to honour culture, art, and talent instead, and pretty much nailed it!
CLASSICAL KICKOFF
Inaugurated by Odissi dancer Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar, the fest featured solo classical dance and group folk dance competitions on the first day. Unni Vishwanath of Hansraj College bagged the top spot in the solo competition, while Gargi College’s Jhumar performance won the first prize in the group dance event. The Bihu performance by the members of Nupur — KNC’s Indian classical and folk dance society, also won hearts.
BAND BEATS
Day one ended with energetic performance by multi-genre band Tarkash. Belting out original and Bollywood numbers, the band wowed the audience and had the girls swooning.
WHAT GOT EVERYONE TALKING
We couldn’t help but overhear visitors appreciate the decorations done by Luminoso — KNC’s fine arts society. The Childhood Memories Corner decorated with superheroes and the handmade photobooths were popular selfie points for students. While choreography and western dance competitions were the highlights of the fest, Glitz — KNC’s fashion society, also garnered much applause for their showcase.
DJ GOT US GROOVIN’
Responsible for all the fun, DJ Anirudh enthralled all with his mixes, forcing them to let loose, and even posed with the crowd for pictures. Taking to social media, he called his experience at KNC lit!
