Some people ‘fake’ relationships for limelight, feels Sourabh
Actor Sourabh Raaj Jain, who is well-known for his portrayal of Lord Vishnu in the show Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev, is a doting husband to Riddhima, with whom he has twin kids. Their chemistry is evident in the many pictures he shares on social media. However, the actor reveals that when he tied the knot in 2010, he was advised to keep it a secret. He was told that an actor’s popularity takes a hit if he/she is married.
Sourabh says, “There were people [who advised me against marriage], and even now, when I meet them, they ask me why I got married so early. They give me that look, and say ‘how can you marry and tell people around about it?’ But I feel why should the special woman in your life be hidden?”
The reason for hiding one’s marital status could be the limelight one gets by keeping up the ‘single image’, he says. “Ideally, one’s work should be the only reason for popularity, but I do see lots of temporary relationships (in the TV industry) which are formed just to be in the limelight, which I’m not sure amounts to genuine popularity or not.”
Currently starring in another mythological show, does it get difficult for him to take out time for his family, considering the hectic shooting schedules?
“I’m doing a weekend show, which is less hectic than a daily show, but, yes, shooting happens in Umargaon, four hours away from my house in Mumbai. Also, sometimes, we have to stay on the shooting location for a while. It does take a toll but I have a supportive family,” he shares.
