Hindi ki pathshala for Diana’s fans

Having made one of the most-talked-about debuts in Hindi films, Diana Penty was quite a subject of discussion when the blockbuste­r Cocktail (2012) released. A lot was spoken about Diana’s command over the widely-spoken language as most people assumed she doesn’t speak Hindi at all. But turns out Diana can not only speak, read and write Hindi — she even asks for her scripts in Devanagari.

Abhishek Sharma, the director of her recentlyre­leased film, says, “I have been a huge fan of Diana’s work since I saw her in Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016). I knew that she is a brilliant actor but during the making of the film, I had anticipate­d that she would struggle with Hindi as she has this anglicised image. I was completely wrong. She

has a very good command over the national language, and surprising­ly she even reads Hindi in Devanagari script (which is how it is supposed to be read). She asked for the dialogues in Devanagari and never mispronoun­ced a single word. I was pleasantly surprised with her perfect Hindi.”

The actor has also started a new series on Instagram #DianaKiPat­hshala, where she posts a fun sentence in Hindi for her fans and followers regularly.
