FUN & FAB FRIDAY JAM RECAP
The sixweek musical extravaganza comes to an end with a bang!
Star-studded evenings, dose of rib-tickling comedy, echoes of encore, impromptu jigs, amazing performances of head-banging hits — the sixweek musical journey of Hindustan Times DLF Cyber Hub Friday Jam Season 5, powered by Too Yumm and Nearbuy.com has been a roller-coaster ride of all this and more.
Every year, the grandeur of Friday Jam reaches to newer heights and when season 5 kicked-off with the star cast of Veere Di Wedding, it received all the ‘Tareefan’ from fans. And when the High-rated Gabru Guru Randhawa took the stage, he made sure that the people danced to his tunes, while he inspired budding singers to “dream big”. “It was my first performance at Cyber Hub, Gurgaon, and I loved it. When people sing along, a connection is formed between the artist and the audience,” he said.
In the second week, music lovers of the city braved dust storms to be an appreciative audience to Indian Ocean’s magical act. “Dilli ki audience itni achi hain that some of the biggest bands still continue to create their own music with their support,” said Amit Kilam, the band’s drummer.
The enthusiasm reached a notch higher the following week, when indie band Euphoria created much ‘Dhoom’ on stage. Belting out numbers like Dhoom Pichak and Ab Naa Jaa, frontman Palash Sen said, “HT really supports good entertainment. [And] till the time there is Euphoria and HT, there is hope for independent music.”
Bhangra moves, beats of dhol and some Sufi tunes, marked the high points of the fourth week with band Nasya’s rendition of songs like Kismat and Ikk Kudi bringing a taste of Punjab in the Capital.
And when there is so much music happening, can love be far behind? Delhi-based band Tarkash’s soulful presentation of love ballads like Dil Diya Gallan, Samjhawan, Har Kisi Ko, was a hit among the young brigade on the fifth week.
Delhi-based rock Hindi band Bismil and Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar presented a befitting finale week to music aficionados. While Bismil took people to a nostalgic ride with their rendition of retro numbers, Neha performed with differently-abled artists highlighting the power of music to unite people.
Well, we can’t wait for the next year already. Can you?
