‘ARJUN, ANSHULA ACCEPTING JANHVI, KHUSHI RELIEVED ME’
It was an emotional moment when film producer Boney Kapoor and his daughters Janhvi and Khushi were spotted in the Capital on Monday, to pay tribute to late Sridevi on her birth anniversary. Organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the two-day retrospective (August 13 and 14) held screenings of the late actor’s popular films, including Mr India (1987), Chandni (1989), Lamhe (1991), among others. Those seen at the do included politician Amar Singh, classical dancer Sonal Mansingh, and veteran actors Jaya Prada and Sushma Seth.
Boney, interacting with the media, said, “I feel her (Sridevi’s) loss every second. Not just me, even my children... it’s something we have to live with. Unfortunately, she was snatched away from us sooner than anybody expected… But the legacy lives on, through the kind of work she has done, right from the age of four.” Janhvi fought back tears while standing on the dais, but broke down soon and made a hurried exit with Khushi. Boney also spoke about how the entire family came together to support him, especially Arjun and Anshula, his children with his first wife, Mona Shourie Kapoor. “The way they have accepted Janhvi and Khushi... That has made me feel very relieved. Khoon khoon hota hai. My four children are my strength,” he said.
Speaking about living with Sridevi’s memories, he said. “My love story with Sridevi is an open book. Whatever matters of the heart can be shared are in the public domain. What’s most close [about her] will remain in the heart. That’s my support system for life.” When asked whom would he cast if he decided to make a biopic on her life, Boney said, “I haven’t reached there yet.”
