Bats, balls and shots: Restaurants gear up for India v/s Pakistan
It’s cricket. It’s India versus Pakistan. It can’t get any more exciting, right? Well, add some delicious cricketthemed food, cocktails and celebratory offers and you will get a winning trio!
As both the teams get ready to lock horns in a match at the Asia Cup 2018 (September 19, Wednesday at 5 pm IST), we speak to Delhi-NCR restaurants that are leaving no stones unturned to offer their guests a pitch-perfect time.
Umang Tewari of The Junkyard Café, Connaught Place, shares, “We have specially-curated drinks such as Beware of Indian Players, Sixer Pack, Power Punch, and dishes such as Calmer Raina Zucchini, Healthy Pitch, Loaded Pitch, Virat Specials, etc. We are also offering deals that include free drinks every time an Indian batsman scores a century, among other [interesting] offers.”
Besides featuring a specially-curated menu, Friction – The Drinkery in Gurugram has a dish that replicates the cricket pitch (in appearance) for its cricket-loving guests. “The pitch has been crafted using green cabbage; fish fingers [will be] the wickets, and the [cricket] balls [will be represented via] Arancini Balls,” shares Tarun Hasija, the owner.
Are you good at guessing who will score a century or who is going to win? Well, at Dum Maaro Dum, GTB Nagar, you can guess the number of runs scored in an over, and if you get it right, win a bucket of 6 IMFL beers, says Aman Sahani, the owner. He adds, “For guessing the number of wickets falling in an over, you win a rack of five shots. And for guessing every halfcentury or a century by a player, redeem 360 ml IMFL liquor. Also, guess the winning team and you’ll win complimentary meal vouchers for two.”
If you wish to get a complimentary shot each time a Pakistan wicket goes down, then Molecule Air Bar in Gurugram is the place to be at. Manish Sharma, the owner, adds that they will also offer one complimentary in-house special brew beer if India wins. And at Darzi Bar and Kitchen at Connaught Place, each boundary scored and wicket taken by India will be celebrated with the beats of the dhol.
